Welcome

Enfield is an outer London borough with big ambitions and the Council has a welcoming, collaborative culture. We’ve got bold plans to improve the borough and we are looking for two leaders to progress exciting real estate and regeneration programmes in the borough.

The Director of Property will manage and transform the Council’s operational and commercial property portfolio, including an in-house facilities and construction management service. Enfield Council owns c1,100 non-residential property assets, collects £12m in rent annually, forecasts a 4-year capital programme of £105m (including new schools) and has an active commercial development programme with a GDV of £120m. The Director of Property will be responsible for improving our asset management, leading development and construction activity, supporting the redevelopment of two town centres through freehold agreements, realising capital receipts through sales, and driving a thorough consolidation and modernisation of the council’s operational property.

The Director of Meridian Water will lead and deliver a new neighbourhood for London, where the Council has taken a master developer role, investing over £400m of council money and securing £170m of government grant to shape the new neighbourhood and ensure that local people are the principal beneficiaries of the 10,000 new homes and 6,000 jobs that will be created. You will hold key relationships with both private sector partners and with local communities and relevant council services, while building significant infrastructure and bringing forward development sites to realise the project goals – park life on your doorstep, your place to make and create, and mixing uses and animating streets. Enfield Council has 3 values which define our culture:

  • Be bold. The Director of Property will be leveraging the Council’s freehold ownership of two shopping centres to support major mixed-use redevelopment in suburban town centres, with political support.
  • Show you care. The Director of Meridian Water will lift some of London’s poorest neighbourhoods out of deprivation – through better housing, supporting local arts and culture, increasing access to parks and green spaces, and training and skills programmes delivered through development and planning obligations.
  • Make a difference. Both Directors will see families move into new homes of all tenures, build new parks and new public squares, and see local businesses move into modern employment space. You’ll walk inside the difference you’ll make.

If you have the vision, ambition and strategic leadership skills to join our senior management team, we would like to hear from you.
